Meriden Public Schools

Meriden, CT

Platt High School Meriden

Connecticut Temperature Controls has had a partnership with Meriden Public Schools for over ten years. CTC services 13 of the buildings, including 8 Elementary Schools, 3 Middle Schools, and 2 High Schools. The schools deliver education to about 8,600 students. Over the years, CTC has built a long-lasting relationship with David Paul, Director of Facilities at Meriden Public Schools. This has led to CTC always being the only choice when it comes to choosing a controls company for the job.

David Paul would love for all of the schools to be upgraded within Meriden, but that would be very costly and not budget friendly. So, he turns to CTC to give him the best solution for the situation. One of the reasons Meriden Schools has been a repeating customer is because CTC listens to their needs and comes up with a solution that solves their problems. Meriden continues to choose CTC because of their strong customer service skills. CTC is quick to respond to any problems and tries to fix things right away.

Why Distech Controls technology?

CTC has taken Meriden BOE building automation control systems through several versions from Pneumatic Controls to Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC) to future proofing their buildings; using Distech Controls for continued Energy Efficiency, which has a direct correlation to reduced energy costs.  Using Distech Controls we are able to build a DDC optimization plan that reduces equipment run times, makes improvements to the chilled water temperature reset, and volume control for pumps and fans. Distech also allows for optimizing ventilation rates in regard to demand control ventilation and/or Covid-19 ventilation strategies (CDC recommended air changes per hour) to maintain a healthy environment. We can control lighting and optimize Zone Temperature set points in occupied spaces and setback setpoints when unoccupied, while also optimizing outdoor supply air temperature.  Distech Controls has allowed us to connect the Meriden Board of Education to their intelligent buildings and that makes for better health, better spaces, and better efficiencies.

David has been very pleased with Distech Controls’ Solutions. He believes Distech is superior to other brands. The system has been very user friendly and easy to operate. The use of Distech’s products have surpassed Meriden School’s needs. These products have allowed for more functionality and have helped with energy incentives and savings. The goal is to eventually have Distech products in all 13 buildings within the Meriden Schools.
